My Quiz Results

I am 73% Addicted to Coffee<

I would have thought my coffee addiction results would have been really high given my answers. But it is certainly an expected and acceptable level since I am Danish, and that gives that certain immunity you need to be able to drink coffee at 9:00 at night and then be able to sleep peacefully afterwards.

51% Geek

I am not surprised that I only rank as a mediocre geek. I have kind of a geeky work day, but try to balance that out a little bit on my free time.   Though its possible I have an overly strong affection towards lists and spreadsheets.

133rd Kentucky Derby Results

First off, gotta say 2 hours of TV coverage for a race that lasted 2:02.17, seems a little excessive if you are not a horse lover. However, Tivo makes at all bearable, giving us the ability to zoom past the endless pointless interviews to get to the heart of the matter, the final results. Those results are:
7, Street Sense, Borel, 11.80, 6.40, 4.60
8, Hard Spun, Pino, 9.80, 7.00
2, Curlin, Albarado, 5.60

Those results did not match up with my picks, though IMAWILDANDCRAZYGUY did finish 4th, just out of the money. And this after being dead last at the halfway point of the race. Maybe next year……

43 Web Design Mistakes You Should Avoid

In designing websites, and improving skills in website design, we learn in a variety of ways. One way is the learn by trying, or the just poking around method. That is the ‘what does this button do’ approach. This method can be further enhanced by the, ‘I know what I want to do, I just need to figure it out’ method. Another method we often use is to just look at what other people are doing and to learn from what is already being done. And, there is the more traditional reading & research method. Today we use the latter method, in referring to ’43 Web Design Mistakes You Should Avoid’ list provided by Pro Blogger Tips. To view those mistakes…. Continue reading

Tivo 8.3 is almost here.

Looks like Tivo is quietly rolling 8.3 out to a few select customers.
If you want it faster, sign up for the priority list.
Series3 units will have an update soon, followed by a full rollout.

The when it happens, your Tivo will have a Build Message that should say:
We just upgraded your Tivo service with the Spring 2007 Service update. This update includes more options for programs in your Now Playing list and integrates support for TivoCast content. For more on what is in store with this update… Continue reading

TiVo Amazon Unbox service is ready.

So, we are looking through our Tivos “Now Playing” list in search of something substantial to watch, and while mulling over the prospect of making the trek to the video store to seek out that one DVD we deem worthy of the required two trips needed to pick up and return it, Honey says……”I wish we could just download them into our Tivo”. And I smile to myself, knowing that the Unbox/TiVo service is in the works. Continue reading

My VCR jumped ahead an hour. Today!?

Hmm, I thought, thats odd. I’m looking at the clock on the VCR and it looks like time has flown by faster than I realized. Wait a minute now, all the other clocks in the house are an hour behind this one. Then it dawns on me, it is time for daylight savings to begin, under the old laws and our VCR, the left wing democrat that it is refuses to recognize the new 2007 daylight savings laws. I must say I am not happy about that since it is a 12 step process to be able to successfully alter the clock on that thing and since it is the only clock in the room, where are TV is, it must be correct. So, tonight I must go through the process again. And now I begin to think I will have to manually adjust the time twice each March.
Hate to buy a new VCR. I hate to admit I actually still have a VCR. I doubt that there is a software patch to fix this issue so I guess I will just have to live with it.

Save those old VHS camera recordings.

Every day we take another step forward in the electronic equipment we use in our daily life. While that is great, we have to remember that with each step forward, we are taking one more step away from technology we have accumulated in the past. This winter I have started the process in bringing the results of our past technology up to the current. And at the same time, perhaps preserving some of our history. Our family has accumulated many, many hours of recorded video, saved on to old VHS format tapes. The years have not been kind to the quality of the recordings, and as the demand for VHS fades away I want to make sure the images we have recorded do not fade away as well. I will post more about how this process is going, and perhaps where I can take it from here, but today, I copied a tape documenting the 100 year anniversary of our church.Faith003.jpg Faith Lutheran Church is 105 years old this year. Who would have thought that so many of interesting things could happen in a small church of a small community in only 100 years. Looking for a suitable image to put on the labels of my newly minted bootleg copies, (maybe I should send a donation), I found this picture. It is taken from a very nice web site that someone at the church apparently works quite hard at. I’m impressed anyway.

A Tivo Prayer

“Almighty Tivo, we thank you for all the gifts you have given us. The power to freeze live TV to go take a leak is nothing short of godlike. Let’s not forget fast-forwarding through commercials. It seems greedy to ask any more from you, o magic box. But if you malfunction and miss the Superbowl, we will destroy you in the alley with baseball bats.” ~ “Ted Moseby” in “How I Met Your Mother” Continue reading
