BECKER, Edward S. Edward S. Becker went to be with the Lord on Monday, September 6, 2010. He is survived by his wife of nearly 60 years, Norma Kloster Becker, his son Keith Becker, daughter-in-law Elaine Becker, daughter Kathy George, four grandchildren: Colin George, Claire George, Andrew Becker and Holly Becker, and sister Jessie Attri. He was predeceased by his 21-year-old son Alan, in 1977. Ed was born on September 8, 1929 in Bisbee, Arizona, to Otto and Fanny Hunter Becker. The family moved to Eugene, Oregon in 1945 where Ed attended the University of Oregon and Oregon State University, eventually earning his Ph.D. in Chemistry. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Ed, Norma and the family immigrated to Canada in 1966, where in 1972 he founded Econotech Services, Ltd., a company serving the pulp and paper industry world-wide, where he worked full-time as President until his mid-70’s. Econotech is still a thriving business and Ed held a special place in his heart for the employees there. Ed was an avid boater and fisherman, and spent many years enjoying the waters off the BC coast with his family and friends. Ed came to know the Lord just days before his son Alan’s death, being profoundly moved by Alan’s faith and devotion to Jesus Christ. Ed became extremely active in missions, sharing his life story in over 30 countries with Campus Crusade for Christ. Ed served on the Board for many Christian outreach organizations as well as at South Delta Baptist Church. Ed’s goal in life was to share Jesus and he would give as much of his time and personal resources as he could in order to do so. A service will be held Monday, September 13 at 2:00 pm at South Delta Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society or the Delta Hospital Foundation. The family sincerely appreciates the outpouring of love, support and prayers of so many great friends. Ed (and his puns) will be sorely missed, but he is now with the Lord whom he loved and served so faithfully. Delta Funeral Home (604) 946-6040
